Who is asking for a note-taking app on X
High volume, low deal size, and unusually loyal users — which means switchers are worth catching precisely because they are rare.
What people are posting right now
These are real public posts on X, found by scanning for the phrasings below. Each one is somebody describing the problem in their own words — not a mention of a brand name.

Can I import everything from Evernote into it and will it sync across Android, iPad, Windows, etc. because I am actively looking for an Evernote alternative? Thank goodness I have no great investment in Airtable or I would be looking to replace that too.
asking for a recommendation Explicit active search for an Evernote replacement with import and multi-device sync named as blockers.

What do you think is the best note app out there? - Notion - Obsidian - Logseq - another one?
comparing two options Open rec-ask from a builder comparing the exact stack this offer replaces.

Who's building an agentic filesystem? Notion is too slow and sluggish to use. When I ask gemini to organize my drive, it tells me it cannot "move my files" 😭. Markdown repos + claude code is great but falls short outside of coding projects.
frustrated with the current tool Names Notion slowness and the gap after markdown-for-code, which is the just-works notes pain.
-
Notion has just gotten too complicated and complex If not for inner pages that Apple Notes doesn’t have id have left Notion longest
frustrated with the current tool Stuck between bloated Notion and limited Apple Notes, the exact replace set.

you should download this. When the legend @mlemos stops to code something for himself, you have to pay attention. most IDEs are too heavy for notes, Apple Notes kinda sucks for this, and Notion is way too much when you just need somewhere to dump stuff while building.
frustrated with the current tool Founder-shaped dump-while-building pain against Apple Notes and Notion.

I actually ditched notion, exported the data out & then built a notion importer, easy content capture tool & simple ui and feel it’s been the best decision. Now I own my data and built a simple system that I enjoy using. Next step is to add an MCP! Love what’s possible now.
leaving a competitor Already left Notion for ownership and simpler capture; still iterating on the stack.

I have a github repo called life where I even have stuff like my body height. Just planned a patagonia trip with help of claude. - Personal plans are in there since a while. - Ditched notion for github now. - Code is first citizen for all planning. - My tax declaration as well.
leaving a competitor Public switch off Notion into files; still living the knowledge-capture problem.

Im telling you SimpleNote is the best note app. Thank me later. It's the VLC of note scene. Free. No nonsense, No AI. No vendor lock-in. Just works.
comparing two options States the just-works / no-ritual demand in the same words as the offer.

You should. Notion is bloated. Fizzy also has a CLI and skills. https://github.com/basecamp/fizzy-cli
frustrated with the current tool Short, on-topic Notion-is-bloated from a product builder.

Either Markdown Preview for reading and quick editing, or Bear for a Apple Notes alternative that can open MD files. I like Bear because you can underline and highlight in many colors which is something not many MD apps do.
comparing two options Shopping Apple Notes alternatives with markdown in the mix.

What demand looks like in Note taking
Speed and sync complaints convert. Feature comparisons rarely do — people leave this category over friction, not gaps.
In this window people are not shopping a category so much as exiting setup tax: Notion feels slow or overbuilt, Obsidian still reads as plugin homework, Evernote users are hunting import plus cross-device sync. Rec-asks sit next to builders who already left for markdown, GitHub, or a tiny dump app. Demand is for capture and search that does not need a ritual.
The phrases buyers actually type
Searching your category name returns vendor marketing. Searching the sentences below returns people. These are the ones that work in Note taking:
Notion is too slowEvernote alternativenote app that just worksmoving off NotionObsidian vsbest note app 2026
Combine them with -filter:retweets and a recent date window. The full method is in the guide to finding buyers on X.
What they are leaving
Buyers in this category are usually moving away from something specific: Notion, Obsidian, Evernote, Apple Notes. Naming the tool they are leaving is the fastest way to find switchers, because they almost always write it down.
Who buys
Founders, developers, writers, students, researchers. If a post comes from a brand account, a newsletter or an aggregator rather than one of those, it is a mention and not a buyer — the difference matters more than it sounds.
